What to do if you’ve lost your SBI Credit Card or Debit Card

In the day and age of work from home, all the mundane transactions have gone online. Surviving without a debit or credit card seems impossible. If you misplaced and lost your credit/debit card, fret not. Here’s what you need to do. 

 Contact SBI Bank Customer Care to report loss of your debit/credit card. You can reach out to SBI Bank customer care via phone call, SMS or SBI Bank website. 

Report lost SBI Credit card via phone to the SBI customer support 

To block SBI Credit card, dial 1860 180 1290 from your registered mobile number on your SBI bank account. 

Report lost SBI credit card via SMS 

To block SBI Credit card via SMS, send BLOCK<space>last 4 digits of credit card number. This SMS has to be sent from registered mobile number on your SBI Bank account to 5676791. 

Report lost SBI credit card via SBI Bank website 

To report and block lost SBI Credit card through SBI Bank website, please use the following steps. 

Step 1 – Go to SBI Credit Card Online – SBI Credit Card Services | SBI Card and login to your account. 

Step 2 – Under ‘Request’ tab, select ‘Report Lost/Stolen Card’. 

Step 3 – Select the right SBI credit card number from the list shown. It will report the selected card as lost to the SBI Bank customer care. 

Step 4 – If you want to use the same card, you can click on ‘re-issue card’.  

Step 5 – Click on ‘submit’. The credit card you selected will be reported as lost/stolen. In case of card re-issue, you will receive further communication from the bank customer care. 

Report lost SBI debit card via phone to SBI customer support 

To block SBI ATM/debit card by phone call, dial toll free number 1800 425 3800 or 1800 112 2111 from your registered mobile number on your SBI bank account.  

This number is specifically for reporting and blocking SBI ATM/debit card. Please follow the IVRS instructions provided over the phone call to report and block the card.  

Report lost SBI debit card via SMS 

To block SBI ATM/debit card via SMS, send BLOCK<space>last 4 digits of debit card number. This SMS has to be sent from registered mobile number on your SBI Bank account to 567676. 

Report lost SBI ATM/debit card via SBI Bank website 

Step 1 – Visit State Bank of India (onlinesbi.com) and login to your account. 

Step 2 – Go to ‘e-Services’ tab and click on ‘ATM Card Services’. 

Step 3 – A new screen will appear showing what you can do with your debit card. Options include to generate ATM PIN, Request debit card, change the limit of debit card, block ATM card and activate new ATM Card. Select ‘Block ATM Card’. 

Step 4 – Choose the bank account number under which the debit card was issued (the card that you want to block).  

Step 5 – Once you choose the bank account, it will show up a list of all the cards issued with that particular bank account. The card numbers that are issued, active and blocked. You will be able to see the first and last 4 digits of debit card. Out of the displayed list, select the card number that you want to block. 

Step 6 – Mention the reason ‘Lost’ or ‘Stolen’, and click on ‘Submit’. 

Step 7 – Verify all the details that show up and click on ‘Confirm’. 

Step 8 – To make sure the right person is placing request to block the card, SBI Bank requires authentication. You can choose to authenticate by either OTP or entering profile password. 

Step 9 – Enter the required information and click on ‘Confirm’. 

Once SBI bank customer care has processed the request to block the SBI Debit card, a confirmation SMS is sent to the customer’s registered mobile number. Ticket raised for the same with the customer care will generate a ticket ID. It is sent along with the confirmation SMS. This ticket ID can be kept handy for any further communication regarding the blocked debit card.
