In order to file claims, check PF account balance, transfer of accounts, withdrawal, loan against PF and avail other services, it is mandatory for the KYC to be digitally verified on a PF account. Linking Aadhar card and PAN card to your EPF account is mandatory. Also, adding and verifying e-mail address and mobile number to your PF account is required for utilizing the services provided through SMS, phone call and e-mail.

Here’s how you can check if your PF account has KYC updated on it:

Check your Universal Account Number (UAN) card

You can check your UAN card online using the following steps:

Step 1 – Login to your EPFO account here – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2 – Under ‘view’ tab, select ‘UAN card’. If the KYC verification on the PF account is complete, ‘Yes’ will be marked against KYC.

Check approved KYC documents in EPFO portal

You can check if your KYC documents are approved and verified in EPFO records online.

Step 1 – Login to your EPFO account here – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2 – Under ‘Manage’ tab, click on ‘KYC’ option.

Step 3 – A new screen will appear. Click on ‘Digitally Approved KYC’ tab. If you had submitted your documents earlier and they were approved and verified. Make sure that your Aadhar card, PAN card and bank account details are verified here.

Check on EPFO India portal

You can check if your EPF account is KYC compliant through EPFO India portal.

Step 1 – Click on the official EPFO portal here – https://iwu.epfindia.gov.in/eKYC/

Step 2 – Click on ‘Track KYC’ option on the home page.

Step 3 – In the screen that appears, enter your UAN and captcha code.

If your EPF account is KYC complaint, you will see this message on screen –

“Dear Member, Your Aadhaar Details XXXX XXXX against UAN XXXX XXXX has successfully been verified.”

After you check your EPF account for KYC using any of the three methods mentioned above and find that KYC is not verified, you can carry out the following steps to update KYC on your PF account.

Step 1 – Go to the official web portal of UAN EPFO here – https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2 – Login to your UAN account using UAN, password and captcha.

Step 3 – Under ‘Manage’ tab, select KYC

Step 4 – Upload the KYC documents – a copy of Aadhar card and PAN card. Accepted KYC documents on EPFO portal are PAN card, Aadhar card, bank account and passport.

Step 5 – Enter the details of the KYC documents that you’d like to add to your EPF account. For adding bank account details, enter the requested details – name as per your bank account, bank account number, IFSC code, etc.

To add details of your PAN card and Aadhar card, enter name as per records, document number etc.

Step 6 – After you have uploaded all the documents and filled in details of the KYC documents, click on ‘Save’.  Status message shown on the screen is ‘KYC Pending for approval’.

Step 7 – Submit the same KYC documents to your previous employer and current employer. If you do not have previous work experience and have only one employer, submit the documents to your current employer.

Step 8 – Your employer should login to his/her EPFO employer account and approve your KYC digitally. If you have two employers, it should be verified by both the employers. The status of your KYC on your UAN account will be changed to ‘Digitally approved KYC’.

In a rare case that your previous and current employers do not respond to your request to approve your KYC on your EPF account, you can reach out to the respective HR and administration department.

If there is no response to your repeated attempts to contact your employer(s) for this purpose, you can reach out to the grievance team at EPFO here –

After KYC is verified on your EPF account by your employer(s), you will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number.

If you face any issue in following any of the procedures mentioned above, you can reach out to UAN helpline phone number – 1800 11 8005 or send the details to employeefeedback@epfindia.gov.in.
