ICICI Bank Home Loan Documents Required

ICICI Bank has various home loan plans to suit both salaried and self-employed applicants at competitive interest rates starting at 6.75% p.a. to 9.25% p.a.* with longer repayment tenure options of up to 30 years.

Before approving a home loan application, ICICI must first verify the identity, address, income, age, etc. of the applicant. The next stage in the home loan process – after receiving a duly filled-out home loan application – is when the bank collects copies of an applicant’s official documents to verify vital information.

General documents required for home loans from ICICI Bank:

  1. Proof of identity:
    • Voter ID: The Election Commission of India issues the voter ID card to adult Indian citizens (I.e. those aged 18 and above) to cast their vote. The voter ID serves as a proof of photographic identity for the cardholder. It is used by the ICICI bank to authenticate the holder’s identity (name + photograph), and address.
    • Aadhaar card: On behalf of the Government of India, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) issues a 12-digit identification number – unique to each Indian citizen – knows as the Aadhaar number. The Aadhaar card number can be linked with a citizen’s PAN number and other official documents to provide an easy reference to all an individual’s information. The Aadhaar Card also records the individual’s fingerprints and signature in addition to name, photograph, and address.
    • Driving license: A driving license is an official document issued by the respective state government. While taking a home loan from ICICI Bank, the driving license authenticates the holder’s identity, age, address, and signature. It also signifies that the holder is permitted to drive a vehicle without anyone’s supervision.
    • Passport: A passport is issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs that serves as a proof of identity of the barer. It helps to authenticates the holder’s address, age, and Indian citizenship to the ICICI bank while taking a home loan.
    • PAN Card: A Permanent Account Number (PAN), issued by the Indian Income Tax Department is a 10-character alphanumeric identification card that authenticates the holder’s identity, photograph, and signature. It is also used by the ICICI bank to check the holder’s income tax records.
  2. Proof of address: Utility bills (water/electricity/LPG/telephone bills) (anyone): Three consecutive utility bills made in the applicant’s name and address helps the ICICI bank to authenticate the applicant’s identity and residential status.
  3. Proof of income:
    • Salary slip: Asalary slip or a pay-slip is a document sent to employees along with their pay, containing relevant information such as the company name, logo, and address, the employee name, salary breakup, final amount earned, date, etc. ICICI Bank checks the applicant’s salary slip to authenticate his/her monthly income.
    • Form 16: Form 16 issued under Section 203 of the Income Tax is a certificate that shows the amount of tax deducted from a person’s salary by the employer while submitting it to the IT department.
    • Employment letter: An employment letter is a formal letter sent to an employee either at the time of resignation or upon request. This letter validates employment details such as joining date, employment duration, salary, title, and work history.
